Debug .Net Memory Issues with WinDbg

Notes on debugging windows app with WinDbg.

  1. Install Windbg
  2. Use the Windows 10 SDK and install debugging tools
  3. Create dump file via task manager
  4. Setup symbols in WinDbg
    .sympath srv*https://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols

  5. load sos
    .loadby sos clr
    
  6. Run
    dumpheap -stat

    to dump out all .net objects in a statistical fashion
